Remembering Ray Sant
Tuesday, June 23 2009
To the Editor:
Thank you so much for printing the text of Peter Corning’s eulogy for Raymond Sant. I laughed until my sides ached. I can only imagine the laughter that must have rocked the walls of that church the day of his funeral. Margaret was several classes behind Raymond and Sy Jewell in school, but she knew of them being good friends even then. We only had one occasion to do business with Raymond - the routine but rather important drawing up of our wills. He and Joanne were both very professional and friendly. Raymond and Sy are small town boys who chose to establish businesses where they grew up, serving the neighbors they knew and who, in turn, knew and respected them. Such commitment is rare and wonderful these days. What a truly great celebration of Raymond’s life. I’m sure he and Rommel will be up to some mischief in Heaven. We both look forward to seeing our friends again in a week at the alumni dinner. Until then, God Bless
